33 Greenwich | New York

August 15th 2017
33 Greenwich opened its doors this spring in downtown Manhattan, revealing a fresh take on a glamorous West Village watering hole that combines old New Orleans hospitality with a design aesthetic inspired by seductive Memphis overtones. Located at 33 Greenwich Avenue in the heart of the West Village, Chef Anne Thornton, formerly of The Waverly Inn and Moby's Little Pine in LA, offers elevated, Southern-inspired dishes, inventive craft cocktails, and a service philosophy borrowed from traditional fine dining. 33 Greenwich's welcoming, salon-like dining room was conceptualized and designed by Kelly Framel and Zachary Lynd, partners of KIZMET. Featuring a mix of high-low, old-new materials and specially-commissioned art including a gorgeous oversized mural from Kelly Beeman. This is the second restaurant from Danny Volk, who opened The Upsider in 2014 and was previously a Managing Director at EMM Group, and the first for his business partner Brian Fitterer.

Some stand-out dishes on the menu include a Dry Aged Meatloaf Burger served on a grilled semolina bun and topped with Gruyere, caramelized onions and mushrooms and a house made red wine tomato jam, and a Muffaletta Board – a deconstructed version of the beloved New Orleans sandwich with charcuterie, provolone, olives and a fennel and celery salad. Lighter options are also abound with Chef Thornton's Lettuce + Peas salad of gem lettuces served alongside a puree of smoky black eyed peas; Tuna Carpaccio dressed with Chili Oil and Benne Seed; Raw or Broiled Gulf Oysters; and a Crudite platter served with house made pimento cheese dip made with aged cheddar, goat cheese and piquillo peppers.
