Red Hot Poker
Though it divides us into winners and losers, poker really is a gift to us all. Nineteenth century French colonists took their game of 'poque' (anglicised as 'poker') with them when they settled in New Orleans, and the game soon spread across North America. The New Worlders returned the favour in World War I, when American soldiers shared their poker moves with their French and British allies.
Since then, the great card game has garnered armies of classically cool fans, both real and fictional, across the world. The heart-stopping 2017 biopic 'Mollie's Game', proved women were equals around the poker table.
Later this year, Quintessentially Foundation will show the world once again how to throw a cards tournament in style, when its seventh annual Poker Night takes place on 17th May at The Ned, formerly the City's Midland Bank building.
Staged in association with Partypoker, London's biggest Texas Hold'em charity tournament will be the Foundation's most exclusive yet, thanks to The Ned's Grade-I listed surroundings, the illustrious guest-list, and a chic, turn-of-the-century evening dress code.
Secure a place here, and you'll be rubbing shoulders with poker enthusiasts, players as well as certain VIPs whose names we could not possibly disclose right now. This is high-brow, high-stakes poker after all.
Quintessentially Foundation is celebrating its tenth year of fundraising, and intends to pack a punch here, raising £150,000 from this year's prestigious Poker Night in aid of Rugby Portobello Trust, a dynamic charity which strives to enrich the lives and expand the horizons of young people in local communities.
As a guest of Quintessentially Foundations' Poker Night, you can expect all the trimmings with a lavish drinks and canapés reception, live music, a late-night games room and, of course, the nail-biting poker tournament itself. Come and try your hand, if you think you're smart enough. And remember, even if you don't triumph, you're a winner for even getting a table at this exclusive event.
Tables and tickets for this event are extremely limited, so please reserve your place today with Natalie@quintessentiallyfoundation.org to avoid disappointment. Tables will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis upon receipt of payment.
