Rounding up what has been an otherwise chaotic season of travel, as we head into late summer in Europe — especially for those of us based in England — there are still some excellent options for late summer sun. Spain, Greece, France and Portugal all have relatively straightforward entry requirements, and if you are double vaccinated, each is on the UK's Amber list, meaning no quarantine on return. Croatia looks to be a good bet, too. Remember, though, as things are changing by the second, please double-check requirements and restrictions before booking.
Compared to previous years, Ibiza is giving a slightly different and more relaxed feel. We like these new properties: Six Senses and OKU Ibiza. Each is a bit more refined than your existing interpretation of Ibiza might be, and they're more suited for rejuvenation than crazy partying. Maslina Resort in Hvar, Croatia, has a similar sensibility — serene and with an excellent spa, it's perfect for a bit of rest.
If you are still looking to stay short-haul, city breaks have become a possibility again as we head into the autumn. Our cities are quieter for obvious reasons, but it's a great time to explore with them now open. We are seeing London's slow and steady resurgence gaining in popularity for mini-breaks, and of course, there is so much to do and explore. We love the Nomad Hotel and the new Nobu in Portman Square. Each has stunning restaurants that make a stay more pleasurable.
If you are craving a mini-break in Europe, providing you are double vaccinated, we like the following options: Berlin, Lisbon, and Madrid; we are particularly excited for the new Four Seasons opening in Madrid.
If you are still desperate for some guaranteed heat, then Dubai looks to be the number one choice for autumn and winter with its recent appearance on the Amber list. It's great for families, couples, and friends and has many wonderful hotels to choose from — plus only a seven-hour direct flying time.
We anticipate Dubai to still feature heavily for winter plans as it did in 2020; the Caribbean is still a possibility, too, with options in Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados and Grenada. All possible, that said, if you are still looking for December, get in touch quick — the Caribbean is always popular, even in a non-pandemic year. Crystal ball time, we hope and pray that the Indian Ocean destinations of Maldives and Seychelles come on to the Amber list, as we know so many of our clients love this part of the world. In the time it's been shut, many new hotels have opened up, including Patina Maldives in the Fari Islands, which we are keen to check out.
