A Night of Hope | Good Chance

July 5th 2016
Yesterday evening crowds gathered at London Wonderground on the Southbank for "A Night of Hope" in aid of Good Chance, the inspiring theatre group that provided a creative outlet for the refugees in Calais.

Quintessentially Members, Good Chance Supporters and many faces of the performing world enjoyed an evening of fantastic entertainment that included performances from Cate Blanchett, Jude Law, Toby Jones and Tom Odell. All of the guest speakers and performers have a deep affiliation with the "Jungle Camp" and demonstrated their passion for this charity in their own brilliant way. Jude Law read a refugee's letter with nothing but a mobile phone light to help him, and Tom Odell performed Nina Simone's "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free", reliving the amazing performance he gave at the camp earlier this year. During the course of the evening, Good Chance wanted to "recreate the atmosphere of the theatre that they ran for seven months in Calais, a place where refugees could freely express themselves with the belief that everyone, no matter what their situation, deserves a good chance".

Award-winning actress and UN Global Goodwill Ambassador, Cate Blanchett, introduced the co-founding directors of Good Chance, Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson. During her opening speech, she outlined the daily struggles of a refugee camp and how together we can bring hope and happiness to these desperate individuals whose lives have been turned upside down by the threat of war. Since its inception in 2008, Quintessentially Foundation has raised over £8 million for its partner charities and is delighted to support this charity gala. For this event, Quintessentially Foundation has raised over £100,000, all thanks to the fantastic support of Members and Good Chance supporters.

We hope to see you all at the next Quintessentially Foundation event, "The World's Greatest Quiz" in aid of Dimbleby Cancer Care on the 13th September 2016. This spectacular annual event will be hosted at Regent's Rooms on Regent's Park by Claudia Winkleman and is set to be a fun and exciting evening.
