Little Bat | Islington
The bar takes its name from Lewis Carroll's poem "Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat" from the well loved children's book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This remains the inspiration throughout the space, drawing on Carroll's quirky and eccentric works with a botanical garden, floating bookshelves and magic wardrobe all being part of this great new venue.
Just off the bustling Upper Street in Islington, Little Bat is very cosy and romantic, a great place for drinks with friends or a date. Large Chesterfield sofas and comfortable booths are matched with eclectic furniture, quirky light fittings and captivating embellishments adorning every wall. You feel like you are in an old fashioned library and instantly feel calm and totally at home.
The drinks menu is truly magical and we started off with a Smoking Jack (Old Fashioned) and a La Fleur ( Sour), as a first introduction to the menu we were blown away by the incredible flavours. The Smoking Jack was a spectacle in itself as it came in a closed bottle full of smoke that spilled out as you poured, leaving this beautiful woody smell lingering in the air. Another cocktail that captured all our childhood memories was the Rhubarb Swizzle which tasted just like the rhubarb and custard sweets but with the obvious adult twist. The great thing about each cocktail we sampled (and we sampled a fair few!) was the great blend of flavours, we found ourselves liking cocktails that we didn't think we would and there is no such thing as a boys/girls drink in Little Bat as each one is a taste sensation worth trying.
This amazing venue combined with delicious drinks and a playful photo booth made for a fantastic evening and we will definitely be going back.
